Breathwork: "Release Everything That Needs To Be Released"

Flora's moving testimony after her first breathwork session.
There are experiences we approach with a healthy dose of skepticism, ones that end up surprising us far beyond what we imagined. That's exactly what Flora experienced during her very first Breathwork session with Almabreath. She agreed to share how she felt, right in the moment, in a video testimonial. Here's her story.
An Honest Skepticism at the Start
"Honestly, at the beginning I was really skeptical," Flora admits right away. The idea of letting go, of allowing herself to be carried by a practice she didn't yet know, didn't feel obvious to her. Like many of us facing a new bodily and emotional experience, she doubted her ability to fully feel its benefits.
So, to stay grounded, she chose to focus on the essentials: her breath, my voice guiding the session, and the music in the background. A way of setting a reassuring frame before letting go.
The First Signs: Tears, Then Tetany
This frame quickly paid off, though not necessarily in the way she expected. "Very quickly, I started having tears running down," Flora recounts. A spontaneous, unanticipated emotion that marked the real starting point of the session. Then, gradually, a more physical and intense sensation appeared: the muscles in her body, particularly in her hands and legs, began to tense up into tetany. A tension that kept intensifying throughout the session.
"It's a disturbing feeling, one that was starting to become quite uncomfortable," Flora admits candidly. Far from being a purely gentle and soothing experience, this first Breathwork session confronted her with strong, sometimes destabilizing bodily sensations.
The Turning Point: "Release Everything That Needs To Be Released"
It was in the face of this growing discomfort that something clicked. "At one point, I told myself: right now, you're really not okay. Your body needs you to let go. You need to get out of this tetany that's starting to hurt a little." Rather than resisting what she was feeling, she chose to move with the inner movement: "Let go. Release!" And from that moment on, everything shifted. She agreed to move through her emotions, to trust her body.
The Release
Staying focused on her breath, she let her body express itself freely. "My body started moving in every direction, to release everything that was blocked inside." This moment captures precisely what Breathwork practice seeks to bring about: offering a safe space where accumulated tensions, both physical and emotional, can finally find a way out.
What This Testimony Teaches Us
This story beautifully illustrates the journey some people go through during a first session: starting from a cautious, almost wary stance, and ultimately moving through intense sensations to come out feeling lighter. The initial skepticism didn't stop the body from speaking, or the emotions from releasing. It's also a precious reminder: letting go isn't always comfortable in the moment. It can even move through phases of tension before leading to a true release. That's the whole point of guided support: to create a frame where this process, however unexpected, can unfold safely.
A huge thank you to Flora for the honesty and generosity of her testimony.
